The PM will be performed in accordance with OEM specifications. Below is a list of checks and calibrations that may be included.
1. Mechanical & Visual Checks
• Inspect the entire system for physical damage, loose cables, connectors, and covers.
• Check the scan arm for smooth travel along the full scan length, no binding or unusual noises.
• Ensure the tabletop is clean and secure.
2. Electrical & Safety Tests
• Verify power cords, grounding, and power strip integrity.
• Test emergency stop function.
• Confirm safety interlocks (arm cannot move if covers are open or stops immediately if the stop is pressed).
3. Calibration & QA Procedures
• Perform QC scan using the supplied calibration phantom
• During PM, run baseline calibrations with the phantom to verify:
• Bone mineral density (BMD) calibration accuracy
• Geometric accuracy (linearity)
• Uniformity checks across the scan field
4. Software & System Checks
• Review and clear system error logs.
• Confirm software version is current and configuration is stable.
• Check patient database backups and verify connectivity to PACS or EMR.
5. Detector & X-ray Tube Tests
• Check X-ray output: kVp, mA (typically done using internal service mode or external meters).
• Run detector tests for response consistency, dead pixels, and alignment.
6. Cleaning & Environmental
• Clean fan filters and ensure ventilation paths are clear.
• Wipe down gantry, table, and calibration block using approved disinfectants.
• Inspect room environmental parameters: temperature and humidity within OEM specs.
7. Documentation
• Complete and sign off the OEM PM checklist.
• Record all test results, corrective actions, and calibration adjustments in the service log.
• Leave copy of PM record on site for accreditation / regulatory review.
