The Bulkamid is a 2.7 mm 0-degree rod-lens cystoscope used for cystoscopy. It relays a direct optical image of the bladder and urethra to a coupled camera head for display on a surgical monitor.

Rigid rod-lens endoscopes carry the image along a train of glass rod lenses rather than a fiber bundle, which transmits more light and resolves finer detail than older thin-lens or fiberoptic designs. The scope has no light source or sensor of its own: it couples to a separate camera head at the eyepiece and draws illumination from a light cable connected at the light post, and it is introduced through the urethra through a cystoscope sheath. Its forward-viewing optic gives a straight, on-axis line of sight suited to direct, in-line visualization. Instruments of this class are handled by urologists.
