Karl Storz Refurbished 5.0 mm 0º HOPKINS II Autoclavable Telescope
The Karl Storz Hopkins is a 5.0 mm 0-degree rod-lens rigid telescope used for rigid endoscopy of the sinus and nasal passages. It relays a direct optical image of the paranasal sinuses and nasal cavity to a coupled camera head for display on a surgical monitor.
Rigid rod-lens endoscopes carry the image along a train of glass rod lenses rather than a fiber bundle, which transmits more light and resolves finer detail than older thin-lens or fiberoptic designs. The scope has no light source or sensor of its own: it couples to a separate camera head at the eyepiece and draws illumination from a light cable connected at the light post, and it is introduced through the nasal passage. Its forward-viewing optic gives a straight, on-axis line of sight suited to direct, in-line visualization. A sealed, autoclavable construction lets the scope be steam-sterilized between cases instead of being restricted to chemical soak. Instruments of this class are handled by otolaryngologists (ENT surgeons).
Key Features
- 0-degree viewing angle - keeps the line of sight straight down the shaft axis for in-line work.
- 5.0 mm diameter - a shaft sized for smaller ports while retaining a usable light and image budget.
- 24 cm working length - sets the reach from the coupling to the tip for the target anatomy.
- Rod-lens optical system - relays a bright, wide image through the shaft and holds detail across the depth of field.
- Light-post illumination - accepts a fiberoptic light cable so illumination scales with the connected light source.
- Autoclavable - tolerates steam sterilization, fitting a same-day turnover reprocessing workflow.
Ideal For
- ENT operating rooms and clinic procedure areas
- Functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS)
- Diagnostic nasal endoscopy
- Use by otolaryngologists (ENT surgeons)
